Don't forget the popcorn
Stelr's innovative services bar means you can quickly pull up all of the latest YouTube videos that matter to your friends. This means you can watch videos to your heart's content, all at the touch of a button.
Video is worth a million words*
See all of the YouTube videos your friends post and favorite right inside of Stelr. Sure, any app can give you a link back to YouTube, but with Stelr, you'll stay put so you can keep sailing through your media stream. It's simple, like it should be.
It's a disco party!
When your friends post music clips or radio news reports to FriendFeed, Stelr is There For You: automatically detecting and displaying audio clips. Touch the play button to start listening. It's just that easy.
When you're done listening, you'll be right where you left off in Stelr.
Photos in your feed
Beautiful photos are one of the best reasons to use FriendFeed. The same goes for Stelr. View photos from your friends' feeds and stay on top of everything they post to Flickr, Zooomr, FriendFeed, Photobucket, Picasa, and more! Of course, you can use the Services bar to see only stuff posted to any one of those services. Inspiration awaits!
But wait, there's more!
See that photos button in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen? Touch it to see only photo thumbnails. Read on to find out more about that.
Change your view
We love photos, which is why we spent countless hours making Stelr the best way to look at them on FriendFeed. Dare we say it's a better way to look at photos than the FriendFeed website?
Here's why we think so: you can touch that aforementioned photos toolbar button to flip over to a photo-only mode. Pair this with a FriendFeed group devoted to photography, and you'll be faced with hundreds of some of the best photos you've ever seen.
Finally, you can touch any photo to see a full-sized version of it.
Dive in to your photos
Touch a thumbnail and see a full-sized version of the photo. Pinch, zoom, and rotate: Stelr's photo viewer does everything you'd expect it to.
Switch between different photos by swiping or by touching the back and forward buttons in the toolbar.
Want to see the original entry the photo is attached to? Easy, just touch the View Item button and off you go.
Location, Location, Location
Designed from the ground up for iPhone OS 3.0, Stelr is obsessed with maps. While you're browsing your feed, check out what your friends are up on Yahoo Upcoming or Yelp. Check for the globe button in the toolbar. When you see it, that means Stelr has found something it can display on a map.
What's up
Once you've touched the map button, you'll see a Google map displaying push pins for each of the geotagged entries in your feed.
Touch a pin to get a brief overview of the entry in question, and touch the disclosure button to see the full entry. From there, you can like it, comment on it, share it on Facebook, email it to a friend, or save it to Instapaper to review later.
Map this Location
FriendFeed entries containing geographic information will display the place's address in the Map this Location section. Choosing Map this Location will show you a map, and allow you to re-use that location in the iPhone's Map application, so you can get driving directions, a phone number or anything else you might need.
It really is that easy, but what else would you expect from an iPhone app?
Advanced search: haystacks beware!
Stelr's advanced search feature provides you with all of the flexibility and power of FriendFeed's search functions. Want to see every reference to your product, company or web service that was liked by 10 people? It's easy.
Customize your search with the following parameters. Choose as many or as few as you'd like:
- Search for words in an entry
- Search for words in a title
- Search for words in a comment
- Filter your search to a specific user
- Filter your search to one particular group
- Only show entries from friends of a user
- Only view entries liked by a particular user (this is also a handy way to see all of your likes!)
- Only view entries commented on by a particular user (this is also a handy way to see all of your comments!)
- Only show entries with at least a certain number of likes or comments
Just the facts, ma'am
Stelr's search results are all business and no nonsense. You'll see your search results presented the same way that your home feed, groups and lists are displayed. This even means you can take advantage of Stelr's awesome photo and mapping capabilities.
You'll always be able to find the information you're looking for with Stelr.
Information at your fingertips
Since you put a lot of time and thought into your searches, it seems only fair to let you save them so you can refer back to them whenever you need. With Stelr's saved search capability, you'll have immediate access to the information you need, when you need it most.
Sharing is caring
FriendFeed is all about sharing, and Stelr feels the same way. Whether you want to add a new entry to FriendFeed from Safari using our Bookmarklet, send something on to Facebook, email a particularly cool entry to a friend, or save something for reading later on Instapaper, we've got you covered.
Facebook Connect
We love Facebook, use it all the time, and bet you do, too. Stelr lets you log in to your Facebook account and post links to your news feed so all of your Facebook friends can benefit from the cool stuff you find in Stelr.
Instapaper
Instapaper is a "fast, easy, free tool to save web pages for reading later," and Stelr offers you the ability to save stuff you're reading to Instapaper.
Here's an example of why Instapaper is great. Lots of long articles from around the web get posted to FriendFeed. You'd love to read them, but you probably don't have the time right now. With Stelr and a free account from Instapaper, you can simply select the Add to Instapaper button from any entry page or in the browser, and save that long article to read later.
Email This
Undoubtedly, you'll send your friends and family links from Safari from time to time. It's great: you run into an interesting web page that you know others will like. You send it on to them, and everyone's happy. Why shouldn't you expect the same from your FriendFeed client? Stelr is happy to send off an email on your behalf.
Post to FriendFeed
Why only read FriendFeed when you can post to it on the go? Stelr has terrific support for posting to FriendFeed: share links on the web, photos, or whatever pops into your head.
Safari Bookmarklet
Reading something cool on the web, and want to share it with your friends on FriendFeed? Here's how:
- Pick a web page to share, such as John Gruber's insightful analysis on Android OS.
- Open your bookmarks and choose the Post to Stelr bookmark.
- Voila!
FriendFeed features galore
Stelr is packed with all the core features you want and need to navigate your networks, from comment posting, 'like' a post, hide and delete posts, browse your lists and groups, and subscribe to other users.
We're serious about providing you with the best FriendFeed experience on the iPhone, so don't hesitate to let us know how we can improve it for you!
